ITSG ROMA 2026
The next meeting of the "ITSG - Italian Trade Study Group" will be hosted by the LUISS Research Centre for European Analysis and Policy (LEAP), in collaboration with the Manlio Masi Foundation and the Centro Rossi-Doria.
We welcome theoretical, empirical, and policy-oriented papers that explore how security considerations are reshaping trade governance, instruments, and outcomes, as well as their distributional, developmental, and geopolitical effects.
The event will take place at the LUISS University - Rome - on May 28-29, 2026.
Topics of special interest include:
- The concept and operationalisation of “trade security” in trade policy.
- Strategic autonomy, supply-chain resilience, and their implications for developing countries.
- Trade restrictions, export controls, and investment screening measures.
- Industrial policy, subsidies, and their compatibility with multilateral trade rules and budget constraints.
- The impact of security-driven trade policies on development and inequality both within and across countries.
- Responses of developing countries to Europe’s evolving trade and security agenda.
- FDI and globalization.
Complete papers (or advanced drafts) should be submitted to the Segreteria Fondazione Masi - segreteria.fondazionemasi@ice.it by April 03, 2026.
The acceptance of the papers will be notified no later than April 20, 2026.
